History of yoga


Yoga is the oldest physical discipline in existence known to humankind. It is as old as civilization. Yoga derives its roots from pre-historic periods and It will develops out of ancient indian asceticism (tapas). Its origin has been traced back to ancient Hindu Wisdom. History reveals this old health science originated before 6000 BC in India. Yoga finds mentioning in Upnishads, Bhagwat Gita and yoga sutras of Patanjali. Yoga has taken up a new shape in the twentieth century which is contrary to its history of life long devotion. Yoga is now spreading all over the world.

 Elements of Yoga
1. Yama or ’restraint’
2, Niyama or ’purity’ : For purity ethical practices of five senses is included which are the five niyamas :
  • Saucha
  • Santosha
  • Tapa
  • Swadhyaya 
  • Ishwara pranidhana
 3. Asana or ’postures’
 4. Pranayama or ’breathing exercises’
 5. Pratyahara or ’sensory withdrawal’
 6. Dharana or ’concentration’
 7.Dhyana or ’meditation’
 8. Samadhi or ’bliss-trance’

Benefits of Yoga


Yoga is a highly developed science associated with a healthy and lively lifestyle With balanced approach to life. The goal of yoga is attainment of physical and mental well-being in order to accomplish it, Yoga makes use of different movements, breathing exercises, relaxation technique and meditation. Yoga is not a religion, but a way of living with health and peace of mind. Mind / body awareness can influence mood and self-esteem to improve quality of life . Yoga is the perfect way to ensure overall health and physical fitness.

Stretching exercises

Precautions while Performing Yoga 

1. People with injuries, medical conditions, or spinal problems should consult a doctor before beginning yoga.

2. Those with medical conditions should find a yoga teacher who is familiar with their type of problem and who is willing to give them individual attention.

3. Certain yoga positions should not be performed with a fever, or during menstruation.

4, Beginners should exercise with care and concentration when performing yoga postures, and not try to stretch too much too quickly, as injury could result. Some advanced yoga postures, like the head-stand and full lotus position, can be difficult and require strength, flexibility, and gradual preparation, so beginners should get the help of a teacher before attempting them.

5, Proper form and alignment should always be maintained during a stretch or posture , and the stretch or posture should be stopped when there is pain, dizziness, or fatigue.

6. Concentration and awareness of breath should not be neglected.

Nipah virus treatment and Symptoms.

  Nipah virus treatment   It is a deadly viral disease spread by bats is infecting humans, but in this case, it isn’t Ebola. As on June 1, an outbreak of the Nipah virus has infected about 18 people and killed 17 in Kerala, India, as reported by World Health Organization (WHO) .                             Warm-up A warm-up is any activity usually performed before participating in sports or exercise.It is taken up to prepare the body physically , mentally and physiologically for sports and strenuous activity.A warm-up general consist of a gradual increase in intensity in physical activity , a joint mobility exercise , stretching and a sports reparel activity . For example, before running or any intense sport one might slowly jog to warm muscle and increase heart rate . it is important that warm up should be specific to exercise that will follow, which means that warm-up should prepare the muscle to be used and to activate the energy system that are required for that particular activity .
